Rais Bhuiyan is a Bangladeshi-American activist and founder of World Without Hate, an organization dedicated to promoting nonviolence and forgiveness in the aftermath of hate crimes. Bhuiyan's life changed forever on September 21, 2001, when he was shot in the face by white supremacist Mark Stroman on a shooting spree targeting people he believed were of Middle Eastern descent aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. Bhuiyan, who worked at a gas station then, survived the attack but lost sight in one eye. Despite his horrific experience, Bhuiyan became a vocal advocate for forgiveness and compassion.
