Lisa Caputo assumed her current role as Chief Marketing, Advertising and Community Relations Officer, Global Consumer Group in October 2005, and has been President and CEO of the Women and Company business since January 2000.

In her role as Chief Marketing, Advertising and Community Relations Officer, Global Consumer Group, Lisa oversees the marketing, advertising, branding, consumer insights, media and community relations operations for all of Citigroup’s consumer businesses. She also oversees the Citigroup Office of Financial Education. In her current position, Lisa has management responsibility for approximately 100 people. She is a member of the Global Consumer Group Planning Group. Citi is the number one financial services brand and is one of the top consumer brands in the world. The Global Consumer Group, a division of Citigroup, which consistently generates more than 50% of Citigroup’s total profits, delivers a wide array of banking, lending, insurance and investment services to more than 200 million customer accounts worldwide, and includes the global credit card, retail banking and customer finance businesses of Citigroup. The Global Consumer Group consists of nearly 200,000 employees.

Lisa started Women and Company when she first joined Citigroup. Sparked by the overwhelming number of women who are the primary financial decision makers, either at home or in business, Women and Company is a membership program which provides a host of solutions to address the distinct financial needs of women.

Previously, Lisa was Senior Managing Director, Business Operations and Planning, Global Consumer Group. In this role, Lisa oversaw community relations, public affairs, internal communications, executive communications and the Office of Financial Education for the Global Consumer Group. Additionally, she served as Chief of Staff to the Global Consumer Group CEO, where she worked with senior managers to develop and implement strategies to expand the business and coordinate business activities across the Global Consumer Group as well as across other Citigroup businesses.

Before joining Citigroup, Lisa held senior executive marketing and communications positions with The Walt Disney Company and The CBS Corporation. At Disney, she oversaw marketing, communications and cross promotions for Disney Publishing Worldwide. At CBS, she was responsible for media relations, program publicity, executive communications and public affairs.

Prior to embarking on a career in business, Lisa spent over a decade in the public sector. She served as Deputy Assistant to the President and as Press Secretary to First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton at the White House during President Clinton’s first term where she oversaw the communications and media relations operations for the First Lady and the First Family. She held the same job through the 1992 Clinton-Gore campaign and the presidential transition. Prior to that, she ran Al Gore’s media operations at the 1992 Democratic National Convention and was the Press Secretary to US Senator Tim Wirth and US Representative Bob Traxler. She also was the National Issues Press Secretary for the 1988 Dukakis-Bentsen presidential campaign.

In addition to her posts at Citigroup, Lisa is a television commentator and public speaker on current events and politics. She has been an NBC and MSNBC political analyst for the past election cycles and was a contributing editor to George magazine. She also served as a co-host of CNN’s Crossfire and CNBC and MSNBC’s Equal Time.

Lisa is a board member of the following organizations: WNET Channel 13, the Sesame Workshop, New Visions for Public Schools, The National Partnership for Women and Families, The Creative Coalition, The New York Presbyterian Sloane Hospital Advisory Committee and Democracy Compact Advisory Board. She is also a member of The Council on Foreign Relations and The Financial Women’s Association.

In 2005, Lisa was selected as a Young Global Leader of The World Economic Forum. In 2004, she was named one of “New York’s Rising Stars: 40 under 40” by Crain’s New York Business. In 2000, Lisa was named by Crain’s New York Business as one of the six New York women who are emerging as influential.

Lisa graduated magna cum laude from Brown University and received a Master’s degree in Journalism with highest distinction from Northwestern University.

Lisa is the recipient of the Women in Direct Marketing International’s 2005 Woman of the Year Award, Girls Scouts of Greater New York Leadership Award, the Feminist Press Crossing Borders Award, the Women’s Information Network Young Women of Achievement Award, Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism’s Hall of Achievement Award, the National Organization of Italian American Women Outstanding Achievement Award and The Greater New York Councils’ Exploring 2004 Women of Achievement Award.
