Legal expert Preet Bharara has landed a high-profile speaking engagement with C5, a venture capital firm that specializes in investing in a variety of technologies. He is serving as the keynote speaker at gala dinner that will also honor the winner of their anti-corruption innovation challenge.
The event is set to take place in Washington D.C. on March 20. Bharara will share some of his own thoughts on corruption and talk about how it affects everyone in some way.
One of the goals of his presentation will be to push for greater transparency in the business and government sectors. He will lean on his own experience fighting corruption to illustrate why the rule of law is so important.
From 2009-2017, Bharara was the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. He regularly fought corruption and was at the center of high-profile cases involving New York City and State government officials.
Bharara was involved in the prosecution of nearly 100 Wall Street executives during his tenure as U.S. attorney. He was also able to reach landmark settlements with four of the country's biggest banks.
Bharara now teaches at New York University Law School as a Distinguished Scholar in Residence. Next month, he is releasing the book, "Doing Justice: A Prosecutor's Thoughts on Crime, Punishment and the Rule of Law."
