Dancing with the Stars host and actress Samantha Harris was the keynote speaker for this year’s 43rd annual Kaleidoscope event that was hosted by the Sparrow Foundation at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on Friday, September 8th. Her speech was focused on the story of her journey from hosting one of the country’s most popular television shows to becoming a Broadway actress all while combating breast cancer. It was a very empowering talk which left the audience in awe of her strength, and it also brought more awareness of this type of cancer. The purpose of the Kaleidoscope event is to enrich the lives of women in the local area and motivate them to chase their dreams.
The Hopkins, Minnesota native was born into the entertainment industry with who parents who worked in the arts. She ended up attending the graduating from Northwestern University and began her career as a television host in 2008. Some of her first time in the spotlight included being on Good Morning America as a special correspondent, a substitute host on The Insider, and a correspondent for E! Entertainment. She is most well known for being the host of Dancing with the Stars for two seasons. In addition to that, she has had some minor acting roles in movies such as D3: The Mighty Ducks, Surviving Gilligan's Island, and Reefer Madness.
