A number of years ago, Yvette Freeman accomplished one of her greatest feats by losing more than one-third of her body weight. She achieved a goal she intends to stick to by losing weight, which meant she had defeated heart disease and diabetes. She has also appeared as a guest star in various programs, including Sisters, Nip/Tuck, Presidio Med, That's Life, Boston Public, Judging Amy, NYPD Blue, and many others. She has appeared in the films Angus Bethune, Switch, Dead Again, Children of the Corn III, and Dead Again. She appeared in the HBO film Norma and Marilyn as well. With the release of The Blessing Way, Freeman completed the Director's Workshop for Women program at the American Film Institute, adding director to her list of accomplishments. She later wrote, produced, and directed a number of short films, including the Alzheimer's-themed Remember, which won numerous accolades, including Best Short Story at the Moondance 2004 Film Festival. The Making of a Global Village, a documentary about the beneficial impact of African dance in a Los Angeles neighborhood, was another short film. She created the flicks The Confused Toad and Hideous Scream for the website instantfilms.tv.
