In China, Ms. Yang is a well-known television host. She is also a founding member of Sun Media Investment Holdings Ltd, a renowned private media company in China. Newspaper and magazine publishing, television production, and online publishing are all businesses. She established the Sun Culture Foundation in 2005 with the goals of advancing education, eradicating poverty, and fostering intercultural understanding. Beijing Foreign Studies University awarded Ms. Yang a bachelor's degree in English language and literature, and Columbia University in New York, USA, awarded her a master's degree in international affairs. By anchoring the CCTV Zheng Da Variety Show in 1990, she achieved national celebrity. She has interviewed more than 500 global leaders for her acclaimed program Yang Lan One On One, which is well-liked by Chinese viewers worldwide. Her Village, her talk program, has been focusing on the growing urban women population since 2006. As one of the presenters in the final presentation to the International Olympic Committee in Moscow, when Beijing won the bid, Ms. Yang represented Beijing's 2008 Olympic candidacy as a goodwill ambassador in 2001. She actively participates in various national charitable foundations as a goodwill ambassador, advocating for NGOs' capacity building, disaster relief, education, and environmental preservation. The 10th and 11th National Committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference presently include Ms. Yang as a member (CPPCC). She also serves as the director of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and a member of the Columbia University International Advisory Council (IAC).
