Wink Martindale Biography

In Jackson, Tennessee, the United States, on December 4, 1934, Winston Conrad Martindale was born. In Internet circles, he is also well-known for the occasional surrealistic comedy articles by Zack Parsons on Something Awful that depict him evangelistically as somewhere between a God a Demon, and Jesus Himself. He is perhaps best known as the host of classic game shows like Gambit Tic Tac Dough High Rollers and Debt. In the 1950s, he worked as a disc jockey on KFWB radio in Los Angeles. He continued to work in radio well into the 1980s. Elvis Presley and Martindale were close friends, and after Presley's untimely passing in 1977, Martindale broadcast a national radio tribute to Presley. In 1959, his cover of the song Deck of Cards sold more than a million copies and peaked at number seven on the Billboard charts. He married Sandy Ferra in 1975 after divorcing his first wife in 1971. They have four kids together. He has made appearances in a number of TV advertisements and has a show on the radio station Music Of Your Life.
