Todd Martin Biography

Todd Martin, a tennis professional and one of the top sports ambassadors, was elected into the Midwest Section Hall of Fame of the United States Tennis Association in 2008. Todd reached his highest singles and doubles rankings in his 14 years on the ATP Tour in 1999 at No. 4 and No. 30, respectively. He won five pairs titles and eight singles titles in all. He advanced to the finals of four Grand Slam competitions, including the Australian Open (1994) and the U.S. Open (1999). He played on every American Davis Cup squad from 1994 to 2003, helping the US defeat Russia 32 in the final with a crucial doubles victory with Pete Sampras over the Russian side in 1995. He represented the USA at the Sydney Olympic Summer Games in 2000. Todd twice received the ATP Sportsmanship Award from his contemporaries. He presided over the ATP Player Council for eight years. Following his appearance in the 2004 U.S. Open, his fifteenth consecutive U.S. Open, Todd left the Tour. In order to foster player growth at all levels of the game, he founded Todd Martin Tennis (TMT) in 2012. Todd has coached Greg Jones, Mardy Fish, Brian Baker, and Novak Djokovic in addition to working with young athletes (ATP players).
