With complete ownership of the Buffalo Sabers of the National Hockey League (NHL) and pending class account panel endorsement of the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League, Terry Pegula possesses business premiums in gaseous petroleum advancement land and top athletics (NFL). Pegula got his money in the oil business and is now using it to restore his favorite hockey programs. In May 2010, the fracking billionaire sold his oil and gas company, East Resources, to Royal Dutch Shell for $4.7 billion. A little over a year later, he paid $189 million to buy his former local team, the NHL's Buffalo Sabers. Additionally, he donated $102 million to his alma mater Penn State to build a hockey rink that debuted this fall and support a division one team. He is now investing $170 million to construct an upgrade complex in downtown Buffalo with two ice arenas, a hotel, and a restaurant. Former Penn State math student Pegula switched to oil designing for a grant and, after graduation, joined Getty Oil. In 1983, he started East Resources with a $7500 loan from family members to drill sand wells.
