About Taraji P. Henson
Taraji P. Henson Biography
In David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Taraji Henson received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, starring alongside Brad Pitt. For Lifetime's Taken From Me, Taraji is also nominated for a 2011 Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture or Miniseries. She won the 2009 Diversity Award for Best Actress for her performance in Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself. In addition, she won the Black Movie Awards' Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Feature Film award and was nominated for the BET Best Actress award for her work in Hustle & Flow. In addition to her role as Detective Joss Carter on CBS' Person of Interest, Taraji also starred in the 2012 movies From the Rough and Thought Like a Man. Henson has appeared as a guest star on several television programs, including the Fox series House in 2005, the WB Television Network's Smart Guy in 1997–1998 as Monique, and CBS's CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in 2006. Henson has also appeared as a cast member on several television programs, including The Division on Lifetime Television and Boston Legal on ABC for one season. In December 2008, she made a cameo as the character Angela Scott on ABC's Eli Stone. Henson received a role in the CBS crime-thriller series Person of Interest in 2011. After two and a half years of co-starring, Henson's character Carter was killed off in the Person of Interest episode "The Crossing" on November 20, 2013, as part of the show's new narrative arc. Fox cast Henson in the lead role in the upcoming television series pilot Empire, a musical drama set in the hip-hop recording industry, in February 2014, three months after her final episode of Person of Interest on CBS aired. In contrast to her previous co-star Terrence Howard, Henson plays Cookie Lyon. Fox gave the pilot a series order in May 2014, and on January 7, 2015, the TV show aired to rave reviewer acclaim. Taraji P. Henderson attributes her success to believing in herself, and as a speaker, this is a recurring topic in her work. Not only are her listeners amazed by her, but she also moves them. And Taraji's keynote addresses encourage listeners to find inspiration inside themselves.
