Stacy Dittrich Biography

Stacy Dittrich is a former investigator who specialized in sex crimes and is an award-winning 20-year law enforcement officer, author, media consultant, and former detective. Stacy is a member of the Tri-County Violent Task Force, which works with the ATF, US Marshall's Office, Homeland Security, and ICE. She is now a deputy sheriff with the Richland County Sheriff's Office in Mansfield, Ohio. Stacy is also a credentialed examiner with the National Institute of Truth Verification, having received training from a former FBI Behavioral Specialist (CVSA- lie detector). Stacy has also been assigned to a federal narcotics task force and has been engaged in the investigations of multiple killings during her career. Former Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro presented her with the Victims of Crime Award in 2002. She received recognition from the Ohio House of Representatives in 2009 for her personal and professional achievements. Stacy, a qualified law enforcement teacher, has taught classes on issues ranging from sexual assaults to "stranger risks." Stacy grew up in a household full of cops, which gave her a unique background. After returning from Vietnam in 1969, her father and three uncles began working as police officers. When her uncle, James, was shot in the line of duty in 1979, she witnessed firsthand the hazards of the position. Despite his survival, he was forced to retire on disability. The other three brothers, on the other hand, are still policemen and have a collective experience of 120 years. Stacy was fascinated with law enforcement from an early age, and at the age of eight, she began researching her own "crimes" after reading the account of serial murderer Ted Bundy. She explored the streets with a hand-me-down kit of fingerprint powder, a microscope, and handcuffs in quest of the ultimate crime scene, frequently performing crude autopsies on unsuspecting insects. Stacy had gone to more "actual" crimes than most police rookies by the time she entered high school, spending her weekends with her father participating in a ride-along program. Stacy was elected class president and graduated first in her class from the police academy. "Like Father, Like Daughter: The Beat Goes About," a two-page feature piece on Stacy and her father appeared in the Mansfield News Journal in 1997. Stacy is the author of the CeeCee Gallagher thriller series, which follows a female investigator named CeeCee Gallagher. On CNN and Fox, she and her first novel in the series, "The Devil's Closet," were covered. The novel, which was based on a genuine case Stacy investigated, was published in October 2008 and was followed by four more volumes in the series. "Murder Behind the Badge: True Stories of Cops Who Kill," Stacy's first true-crime book, was released in September 2009. (Prometheus, Hardcover)
