Shontavia Johnson Biography

Shontavia Johnson is an accomplished attorney, entrepreneur, and academic with a passion for fusing business, law, and culture. She currently serves as the associate vice president for entrepreneurship and innovation at Clemson University, where she facilitates the creation of a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem by connecting students, entrepreneurs, corporations, and other universities. Furthermore, Shontavia established LVRG, a community that empowers women of color entrepreneurs to pursue their ambitions. Initially, she embarked on her career by resigning from her first job as a big law firm attorney, undergoing a transformation in appearance, ending her romantic relationship, and relocating to South Africa, where she experienced a period of setbacks before returning to the United States to fulfill her vision of broadening access to entrepreneurship and intellectual property, despite a $100,000 decrease in salary. Shontavia has received recognition twice from the American Bar Association and the National Bar Association as one of the foremost 40 young attorneys in the country and also as one of the 200 Black Women in Tech to Follow on Twitter. Her expertise has been featured in various publications and media outlets, including NPR, Black Enterprise, CNN, and the Los Angeles Times, and she has contributed articles to publications such as Fortune, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, The Washington Post, and TIME.
