Shirin Neshat Biography

Shirin Neshat is an Iranian-born artist and filmmaker based in New York. The Women of Allah series, which investigated the subject of gender in connection to Islamic extremism and militancy, was among Neshat's early photographic works. Her following video works deviated from overtly political themes or critique in favor of more lyrical visuals and nuanced human storylines. Neshat continues to experiment and explore the media of photography, video, and cinema. Her most recent collections of work include the photography series The Book of Kings The Home of My Eyes and the trilogy Dreamers consists of three video installations: Illusions and Mirrors Roja and Sarah.
