Sean Casey Biography

Sean Casey enjoys going to extremes. He is a daring filmmaker, the designer of the Tornado Intercept Vehicle, and the lead in the wildly popular Storm Chasers series on the Discovery Channel. Mr. Casey has spent years touring the world and documenting some of nature's most challenging and stunning phenomena, which has sharpened his motivation and resolve to create an IMAX film about tornadoes. He has experienced and captured it all to share his wonder of the world with Imax audiences around the world, from great white sharks feeding off the Southern Australian coast to lions on the hunt in the African Serengeti, from the peaks of active volcanoes in the Caribbean isles to the devastating earthquake in Turkey in 1999, from the massive wildfires of California to the hurricanes off the gulf coast. Sean Casey earned a degree in cinema studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He completed post-graduate work at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. Before working in the IMAX format, he produced and directed documentaries about the training of American military units, such as the best-selling Marines: Earning the Title, which covered Marine Corps boot camp, as well as the more elite Navy Seals, Marine Force Reconnaissance, and US Army Rangers. Moreover, he produced music videos for Violent Femmes and Rilo Kiley. Also, Mr. Casey founded two businesses: Bushrag, which makes specialized camouflage goods, and Black ink, which designs prints and sells t-shirts with military themes. Also, Sean Casey has had the rare pleasure of being stranded on two distinct Islands—but only once voluntarily. Sean Casey is now wrapping up principal filming on his IMAX picture Tornado Alley and organizing his upcoming 3D Imax project, which will focus on great white sharks off the west coast of North America.
