Scott Tong Biography

Scott Tong is a journalist for Marketplace who focuses on the global economy, the energy condition assets, the environment, and the graceful chain. He has looked at a few remarkable events, such as the U.N. climate conference in Cancun, the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the first anniversary of the BP oil spill, and hunger in the Horn of Africa. Tong joined Marketplace in 2004 and most recently served from January 2007 to July 2010 as the China authority supervisor in Shanghai. While there, he reported about a special arrangement around the Beijing Olympics, the 30th anniversary of China's one-child policy, sanitation warnings in 2007, labor strikes, child slavery, child lead poisoning, and China's universal selection program. Before joining Marketplace, Tong spent considerable time filling in as a producer and off-air columnist at PBS Newshour with Jim Lehrer. Tong graduated from Georgetown University with a four-year degree in government.
