Paul Gigot Biography

Since 2001, Paul Gigot has served as the editorial page editor and vice president of The Wall Street Journal. He supervises the editorial pages of the Asian and European editions, as well as OpinionJournal.com, and is responsible for editorials, op-ed articles, and Leisure & Arts criticism. He is also the anchor of Fox News' The Journal Editorial Report. Gigot began his career with the Journal as a reporter in Chicago in 1980, and in 1982, he was promoted to Asia correspondent, stationed in Hong Kong. For his reporting in the Philippines, he received an Overseas Press Club award. He was designated the Wall Street Journal Asia's first editorial page editor in 1984. He moved to Washington in 1987, where he wrote editorials and the monthly Potomac Watch column, which received the Pulitzer Prize for commentary in 2000. In 2010, he was awarded the Bradley Prize by the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, which honors the advancement of liberal democracy, democratic capitalism, and the protection of American institutions. Gigot is a Dartmouth College graduate.
