Rohini Kosoglu Biography

Rohini Kosoglu is a prominent American policy expert & strategist of Sri Lankan Tamil descent. Born in New Jersey, her parents immigrated from Sri Lanka in the early 1980s. She would go on to the University of Michigan, earning a B.A. in English and then an M.A. in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University. 

Kosoglu was a senior advisor and chief of staff for Kamala Harris's 2020 presidential campaign, managing a $40 million budget and over 300 staff, and led Harris's vice-presidential debate preparations and transition planning for the Biden-Harris campaign.

She made history as the first South Asian American woman to serve as both Domestic Policy Advisor to the Vice President (2021–2022) under Kamala Harris in the Biden-Harris White House and Chief of Staff in the U.S. Senate (2017–2019) for then-Senator Harris. In the White House, she advised on major domestic and economic issues, including the American Rescue Plan, the AI Bill of Rights, the CHIPS Act, and the Cancer Moonshot, while promoting gender and racial equity, economic mobility, and democracy. 

She serves as a Policy Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI), Director of Public Policy and Political Affairs at the Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign, and a Venture Partner at Fusion Fund, focusing on early-stage technology and healthcare investments. She is also a Senior Advisor at Victory Sports Media, bridging sports, entertainment, and policy to create impactful content.
