Robert Labadie Biography

A 1988 graduate of the University of Notre Dame,Dr. Robert F. Labadie attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh where he earned both his PhD (Bioengineering 1995) as well as his MD (1996). He completed his Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill NC (1996-2001) after which he joined the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Labadie is an Associate Professor in the Department with a secondary appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Labadie's clinical interests include surgery of the ear especially ossicular chain reconstruction and cochlear implantation. He is board certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (2002). Dr. Labadie's research interests include image-guided surgery robotic surgery and minimally invasive surgery. He currently has research projects funded by the National Institute of Health investigating percutaneous cochlear implant surgery as well as robotic mastoidectomy surgery.
