Richard DeVos is an American businessman, the co-founder of Amway (restructured as Alticor in 2000), and the owner of the NBA basketball team Orlando Magic. Forbes magazine ranked him as the 60th wealthiest person in the US and the 205th richest in the world in 2012, with an estimated net worth of $5 billion. At one point in his life, he was among the 10 wealthiest Americans. DeVos completed his education at Calvin College and is a Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity member. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. DeVos has authored several books, including "Compassionate Capitalism" and "Hope From My Heart: Ten Lessons For Life," which reflect his experience after a successful heart transplant surgery in 1997. Before this, he underwent two heart-bypass surgeries in 1983 and 1992. In 1975, DeVos co-authored a book with Charles Paul Conn called "Believe!," which chronicled his success.
