LT Pete Scobell is an accomplished individual who has dedicated his life to serving in the United States Navy, initially as an enlisted SEAL and later as an officer. With almost 17 years of active duty experience, he has made significant contributions to the SEAL Teams. He has served at SEAL Team EIGHT, ONE SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team, and Naval Special Warfare Development Group throughout his career. Pete's deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and various other locations involved leading and participating in special operations missions, including undersea operations, direct actions, and a successful hostage rescue off the Horn of Africa. Pete Scobell's commitment and bravery have earned him numerous personal decorations, including two Bronze Stars with Valor, Joint Commendation Medals, multiple combat action ribbons, and two Presidential Unit Citations. Before his naval career, Pete excelled in other pursuits. He was a skilled ski racer in New York State and the Pennsylvania State Champion in the Pole Vault. His heroic actions as a Presque Isle State Park lifeguard earned him the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources Heroism Award. Pete's exceptional athletic abilities and determination led him to be the third enlisted SEAL selected to attend the United States Naval Academy, where he continued to excel. He joined the Naval Academy Track Team, setting the freshman record and achieving success in the IC4A's. Additionally, Pete was a starter on the A-side of the Naval Academy Rugby team, showcasing his versatility and teamwork skills.
