Martin Ihrig Biography

Martin Ihrig is a Practice Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and a Visiting Professor at the Finland's Lappeenranta University of Technology. Dr. Ihrig is the Co-Founder and President of I-Space Institute, LLC, a research and consulting firm specializing in information management strategy. He graduated from University College Dublin with a Master of Business Studies (First Class Honors) and Technische Universität Berlin with a Doctorate in Business Administration (Summa Cum Laude). Dr. Ihrig advises on strategic and entrepreneurial knowledge management (SEM-K) and leads Wharton's Snider Entrepreneurial Research Center's SEM-K research program. He has worked with companies including BAE Systems (USA), The Boeing Company (USA), and Vale in building strategy tools for business and government decision-makers (Brazil). The Economic and Social Study Council (UK), the ATLAS Collaboration at CERN (Switzerland), Tekes (Finland), and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have all supported his research (USA). His academic research focuses on using agent-based simulations to investigate entrepreneurial innovation methods. In the multibillion-dollar ATLAS experiment at CERN, he's also looking at the development and mapping of knowledge. Dr. Ihrig's research at Penn GSE focuses on educational entrepreneurship and strategic knowledge acquisition through work-based learning.
