Lily Tomlin Biography

Entertainer Lily Tomlin made her TV debut on The Garry Moore Show in 1966. In 1969 she joined the cast of Laugh wherein slung her to fame. Crowds became hopelessly enamored with the humorous characters she made including Edith Ann a wicked 6-year-old and snarky phone administrator Ernestine. Tomlin showed up on the show until it went shut off in 1973. After her fruitful sudden spike in demand for Laugh-In Tomlin proceeded to star in six TV parody specials that she co-composed with Jane Wagner. Tomlin and Wagner met in 1971 when Tomlin was searching for an author to assist her with building up the character of Edith Ann. They felt a quick association both expert and individual and turned into a couple. Tomlin made her film debut in Robert Altman's Nashville (1975). Her exhibition as a gospel artist and mother of two hard of hearing youngsters earned her an Academy Award selection for the best-supporting entertainer. She proceeded to show up in The Late Show (1977) with Art Carney Moment By Moment (1978) with John Travolta and composed by Wagner; Nine to Five (1980) with Dolly Parton and Jane Fonda.
