John Mendel Biography

John W. Mendel is the senior vice president of American Honda Motor Company, Incorporated, where he oversees both the Honda and Acura Automobile Divisions. Mendel is in charge of the Honda and Acura Divisions' sales and marketing activities in the United States, as well as Acura Parts and Service field procedures. In addition, he supervises Honda and Acura market recognition, client marketing, dealer business strategic planning, and product and marketing information. Mendel previously served as American Honda Motor Company, Incorporated's senior vice president, Automobile Operations, where he was in charge of production planning, marketing, advertising, public affairs, and allocation for both the Honda and Acura Automobile Divisions. Mendel joined American Honda in December 2004 and rose to the position of senior vice president in 2007. Went on to join American Honda, Mendel worked for Ford Motor Company for twenty-eight years, most recently as senior vice president as well as chief operating officer of Mazda North American Operational processes. He started his career in 1976 with Ford Motor Company's United States operations, where he held a variety of marketing and sales positions for Ford, Lincoln Mercury, and Ford Customer Service. Mendel also worked as the director of marketing for Ford of Britain from 1999 to 2002 before joining the Mazda executive team. Mendel holds bachelor's degrees in business and economics as well as a master's degree in business administration from Duke University.
