Ida Byrd-Hill Biography

Ida Byrd-aim Hill's has been to enhance people's financial lives her whole life, beginning as a financial adviser, when she oversaw 353 million in assets for 2200 individual clients and 10 corporate clients. Then she worked as an Executive Search Consultant, sometimes known as a "Headhunter," where she placed 72 attorneys in the patent, environmental, and FDA fields. She is now a Maker Educator, working to increase the number of urban young people entering automation employment by immersing them in innovation, technology, and entrepreneurial activities at home, school, and in the neighborhood. In its May 2010 piece, Helping Our Children Achieve Excellence, Essence Magazine stated, "Byrd-Hill is the exact essence of Detroit's resistance to surrender." She is constantly applying new ideas to transform urban education into an incubator of greatness. She organized the ultimate Family Maker's Faire, Automation Workz 2015, at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), where families competed in a treasure hunt to tackle tough hands-on innovation, programming, 3D printing, mathematics, robotic, and automotive jobs. Automation Workz is a synthesis of her experiences as the founder of Fluke – the wealth-building game of unintentional innovations, the radical transformer of 5 urban public schools, and the creator of America's first online blended alternative high school, Hustle & TECHknow Preparatory High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor in 1989 and an MBA from the Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer University in 2014. Ida Byrd-Hill is the divorced mother of twins Karen and Kevin Hill, both of whom attended Western Michigan University and Rochester Institute of Technology.
