Dr. Richard G. Brody, CPA, CFE, CFF, CGMA, FCPA Biography

Rich Brody is the Douglas Minge Brown Professor of Accounting at the University of New Mexico's Anderson School of Management. In addition, he is a Daniels Fund Business Ethics Fellow. His Ph.D. is from Arizona State University, his M.S. is from Colorado State University, and his B.S. is from the University of Delaware. He previously worked as a staff auditor for Deloitte Haskins + Sells, as a cost analyst for Hewlett Packard, and as a senior financial reporting analyst for Tandem Computers. He has the certifications of Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Global Management Accountant, and Forensic Certified Public Accountant. In addition, he is Certified in Financial Forensics. Rich's research focuses on forensic accounting, auditing, and corporate governance. He has over 90 refereed papers to his name and has given over 130 talks at national and international conferences. Recent study has concentrated on corporate fraud, identity theft, mandated auditor rotation, and the influence of corporate governance structure on auditor judgment. He is an Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Regent Emeritus and the 2012 ACFE Educator of the Year. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for Fraud Magazine and the Board of Governors for the Institute of Internal Auditors' Albuquerque Chapter. Rich was just named the New Mexico Society of CPAs' Outstanding Educator. Rich is an expert witness who has worked on both civil and criminal matters. He has worked for the United States Secret Service, the United States Department of Justice, the New Mexico Attorney General's Office, and the New Mexico Second Judicial District Attorney's Office.
