Dr. Karen M. Walker is a decorated Marine Corps officer who has served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on three separate occasions. As she works to enhance the transition experience for veterans, she is an expert in organizational psychology, an author, and a supporter of diversity and change. Dr. Walker has considerable experience in the government and corporate sectors, as well as academia and as an entrepreneur. She has worked for the Department of Defense, the United States Secret Service, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Synergy Learning Institute 501(c)(3), Final Notice Investigative Services Group, the University of New Mexico, and the University of the Rockies, as well as co-authoring one of Inc. Magazine's Top 60 Leadership Books for Women, Why Can't I Wear Pink and Be President? I'm Leading by My Ponytail. Dr. Walker also volunteers for a number of non-profit organizations that help veteran women and the community. In 2017, she founded Combat Boots to Heels, a professional development program for female veterans run by Synergy Learning Institute, a nonprofit vocational college. The program assists women veterans at any point of their transition from the military by assessing their current situation and assisting them in charting a confident route to their desired destination.
