Gary Small M.D. is Professor of Psychiatry at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior the Parlow-Solomon Professor on Aging at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and Director of the UCLA Center on Aging. Small has studied and developed lifestyle and memory training programs for improving brain health which are available throughout the US in senior centers community hospitals and assisted living facilities. He has invented the first brain scan that allows doctors to see the physical evidence of brain aging and Alzheimer's disease in living people.
Dr. Small has authored over 450 scientific articles books and book chapters and received numerous awards and honors. He leads an internationally acclaimed research team that has been at the forefront of discoveries on detection and prevention of brain aging and memory loss.
