Danielle Pletka was a senior professional staff member for the Near East and South Asia at the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations for many years, and she was the lead person on the Middle East, Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan problems. Pletka writes about national security issues as the senior vice president for international and defense policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute, with an emphasis on Iran and weapons proliferation, the Middle East, Syria, Israel, and the Arab Spring. She also researches and writes on Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan in South Asia. Pletka is the co-editor of “Dissent and Reform in the Arab World: Empowering Democrats” (AEI Press, 2008), as well as the co-author of “Containing and Deterring a Nuclear Iran” (AEI Press, 2011) and “Iranian Influence in the Levant, Egypt, Iraq, and Afghanistan” (AEI Press, 2012).
