Cesare Mainardi Biography

Cesare R. Mainardi is the Chief Executive Officer of Booz & Company and has been a partner since 1993, joining the Cleveland office after graduating from college in 1986. He was the firm's Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of its North American unit prior to his election as CEO in April 2012. Mr. Mainardi has worked with some of the world's top organizations over the course of his 26 years with the company, helping them discover and create the fundamental skills they need to succeed over time. Mr. Mainardi has been a key architect of the firm's distinctive approach to capabilities-driven strategy and capability development, based on his experiences. He co-authored the Harvard Business Review Press books The Essential Advantage and Cut Costs and Grow Stronger, as well as several articles on business strategy published in leading journals like the Harvard Business Review and strategy+business, such as "The Coherence Premium," "The Right to Win," and "The Capabilities Premium in M&A." Mr. Mainardi was born and reared in Rome before attending college in the United States. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering, a Master's degree in manufacturing engineering, and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management in six years. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Management and Strategy at Kellogg.
