McGlowan was recruited by the TEA Party to run for Congress in 2010, and though she was unsuccessful, she was the first black and female to run on a major party ticket in Mississippi's 1st Congressional District. Angela was designated the national TEA Party Movement's heroine in 2010 by the Wall Street Journal for her commitment to achieving real, conservative change in Washington, DC. McGlowan worked at Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation as Director of Government Affairs and Diversity Development, where he was in charge of developing and implementing aggressive diversity programs inside the Fox Entertainment Group. McGlowan also served as a lobbyist in Congress for government legislation that supported business goals and growth. McGlowan started her career as the Director of Outreach for the Better America Foundation, which was created by former Senator Bob Dole. The goal of this group was to promote community empowerment across the country.
