Hank Garrett Biography

Born in New York's Big Apple and raised in Harlem Hank Garrett learned to adapt quickly to unfamiliar situations at a young age. His first dream was competing as a powerlifter and bodybuilder in which he won the New York State Power Lifting Championship. Hank Garrett then became the famous wrestler known as The Minnesota Farm Boy which is interesting since Hank Garrett had never been out of New York.
After five years of professional wrestling Hank Garrett decided to try comedy. So he packed his bags and made his way to the New York Catskill Mountains where the likes of Buddy Hackett had become famous doing stand-up comedy. Hank Garrett landed his first job as Social Director of the then famous Browns Hotel.
Comedy came easy for Hank who re-created what he had learned growing up in Harlem. He made audiences laugh with stories of his childhood using a variety of characters and dialects. His talents were soon noticed by the such stars as Jerry Vale Della Reese and Tony Bennett.
