It's safe to assume that in 2012, forming a guitar band is probably not the best course of action for a career. Any Connexions consultant will tell you that it is most likely just after astronaut and pope on your list of potential professions. There has never been an alternative for the four Oxfordshire men—Will Daunt, Iain Lock, Dom Millard, Guy Henderson—and their friend Henry Walton from St. Albans. They have been playing together since they were 15 and have surmounted several obstacles in the music business to reach to this stage. Henry admits, "I've never even thought of anything else." All I've done with these guys is play guitar. They had to break up after a few early shows because of the university. While Dom and Henry traveled to Liverpool to perform as Johnny Rotten and Steve Jones in the tribute band The Next Pistols, Will proceeded to Dublin to pursue his love of literature. They eventually all made it to London, where they followed the established first-indie pattern and signed with Fierce Panda for three singles and an EP. We were young people enjoying fun and not considering our future plans while we hung out and played music. Relationships started to break down, and things weren't going well, says Dom. In order to work at our own speed without being under time constraints, we left our stuff behind, changed the name of our band, and sat in studios on City Road.
