Yasmeen Ghauri had a difficult upbringing and endured relentless bullying from her peers in school. She started to isolate herself from kids her own age, preferring to hang out with older kids in her area. Yasmeen as a result matured far more swiftly than people her own age and grew up extremely quickly. By joining a modeling agency in Montreal, she overcame these challenges and took the first step toward a modeling career. Yasmeen relocated to New York in 1990, when she started modeling for Versace. She soon gained attention in the fashion world because of her inherent beauty and extraordinary ability to look beautiful in a wide range of styles and patterns. Yasmeen soon began posing for Givenchy and Isaac Mizrahi. Her height of 5'10 earned her the title of star in Donna Karan's Fall collection preview. Ghauri spent most of 1994 and 1995 working the runways in Milan, Paris, and New York, just beginning to work in print in late 1994. She has been on the covers of Shape Marie Claire, Fashion Quarterly, and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue several times.
