Walter Fust Biography

Following 15 years as Director General of the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation, Ambassador Walter Fust chaired the Global Humanitarian Forum Geneva from May 2008 until March 31, 2010. (SDC). In that position, he served on the UN-ICT Task Force and the UN-GAIN steering group. He was chairman of the board of the GlobalKnowledge Partnership (GKP), a network to improve IT for development, and chaired UNESCO's Intergovernmental Council for Communication Development (IPDC) from 2008 to 2010. Walter Fust is the President of globethics.net, based in Geneva. He is a board member of the International Forum of Federations (Ottawa) and a trustee of the Biblioteca Alexandrina in Egypt. He is on the board of the Coalition for Dialogue on Africa (CoDA) and is a member of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA). Mr. Fust, who was born in 1945, graduated from the University of St. Gallen and worked in the private sector (banking, investing, and trade promotion) as well as in several roles in the Swiss Confederation's Public Service.
