Victor Wooten Biography

Victor Lemonte Wooten is an exceptional individual. He was the youngest of five young men when he was born, and at the age of two, he began learning how to play music. At age five, he started playing bass in the family band and acting in dance clubs and theatres. At age six, he visited his siblings and opened gigs for the legendary soul musician Curtis Mayfield. Before graduation from high school, he and his siblings had taught the technique to artists including Stephanie Mills War Ramsey Lewis Frankie Beverly and Maze Dexter Wansel, and The Temptations, not long after he became affectionately known as the 8-year-old Bass Ace. Whatever the case, this lone beginning recounts the life of this Tennessee powerhouse. In 1990, Wooten, now a five-time Grammy winner, made his debut as a member of the supergroup Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Victor is continuing to forge a musical route with the band while also becoming well renowned for his solo Grammy-awarded standalone excursions and memoirs. Victor became sought-after for workouts and seminars at music stores and institutions all around the world by artists who needed to master his outstanding style and challenging techniques. These courses served as the building blocks for the famed Bass/Nature Camp that Wooten created in 2000 and eventually expanded into the Victor Wooten Center for Music and Nature.
