Prior to joining the World Bank, he served as group vice president, international, for Data Resources, Inc. (1982-1986), now Global Insight, president and CEO of the Economist Intelligence Unit and Business International, a division of the Economist Group (1986-1992), and consultant with McKinsey and Co. in Europe.
