Todd Olson Biography

Co-founder and CEO of Pendo, a platform for product teams to develop products that consumers love, Todd Olson. Todd, a three-time entrepreneur, is familiar with the highs and lows of managing rapidly expanding technology businesses. By the age of 14, he had developed his coding skills, and he spent his adolescent years designing databases and creating software for MBNA Bank in Delaware. By the time he received his degree from Carnegie Mellon University, he had developed a solution for data integration, co-founded Cerebellum Software, and raised initial money. After hiring 65 people and raising $17 million in institutional financing, Cerebellum went on to close as the funding for the company dried up during the dot-com era. Todd arrived in Raleigh thanks to a position as vice president of product development at TogetherSoft. There, he eventually founded 6th Sense Analytics, which he later sold to Rally Software. Todd was in charge of the Rally product team when he got the idea for Pendo. He found it difficult to choose which of the numerous feature requests that came over his desk each week warranted the time and money commitment because there was no data on product usage available. He collaborated with other product leaders and technicians from Red Hat Cisco and Google to start Pendo in October 2013 following the IPO of Rally. Since then, the business has acquired more than 500 clients, garnered $56 million in venture funding, and today employs 170 employees across locations in Raleigh, San Francisco, New York, and Yakum, Israel. It received a 2017 Top 50 U.S. Startups designation from LinkedIn.
