Tig was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and reared by her single mother in Pass Christian, Mississippi (affectionately known as Tig by her brother as a youngster). In order to reduce cooking and cleaning duties and give her mother more time to paint donkeys on the exterior of their house, she would feed the kids all three meals at once and water of their diapered bodies in highchairs on hot summer days. Later, the family relocated to Texas, where they got a stepfather who gave them stability and, regrettably, a home without painted donkeys on the walls. While incarcerated at a Texas high school, Tig failed three classes by having fun with his friends rather than thinking about pursuing a successful academic future. She made the decision to leave school in the ninth grade and relocate to Denver, where she temporarily worked in the music industry before relocating to Los Angeles to establish herself solidly in the comedy field. With Jennifer Aniston signed on to play the role of the first female President of the United States and Tig appearing as the First Lady, Tig, and her wife and writing partner Stephanie Allynne sold the script First Ladies to Netflix. In the comedy Instant Family from Paramount Pictures, Tig co-starred with Octavia Spencer.
