Ted McCain is an educator, which should come first. He has spent a quarter of a century presenting to high school understudies at Maple Ridge Secondary School. Although he has had a few opportunities to work in various positions in the public and commercial sectors, his primary calling is to support young people as they prepare to advance as they enter adulthood. In teaching innovation, Ted McCain has been a trendsetter and innovator. Ted received the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1997. This prestigious national award for Canada was given to Ted in recognition of his efforts in creating an innovative educational curriculum for students in grades 11 and 12 that prepares them for careers in computer programming and web design right after graduating high school. Ted was praised for his work developing his innovative four-dimensional approach to problem-solving, great use of pretend play in the classroom, and the notion of emotional withdrawal as a means of fostering student autonomy. Ted has worked as a study hall instructor as well as a division director, a clerical assistant, and an innovation adviser. He currently serves as the instructional technology coordinator at Maple Ridge Secondary School in Vancouver, British Columbia. Ted McCain also attended lower-level schools for his education.
