At Clark University, Tara wanted to double major in political philosophy and brain research. Over the following year, Tara completed her dissertation for her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Fielding Institute, which examined how reflection might be a valuable tool for developing rewarding habits. She then went on to complete a five-year program at the Spirit Rock Meditation Center run by Jack Kornfield for the preparation of Buddhist teachers. As a psychotherapist who also taught reflection, she naturally blended these two great traditions, teaching western mental concepts to reflection students while also bringing contemplation to her therapy clients. This combination has developed through time into Tara's important work in educating psychotherapists on integrating care systems into therapeutic practise.
