About Tabitha Soren
Tabitha Soren Biography
American fine art photographer Tabitha Soren Lewis has worked as a reporter for MTV News, ABC News, and NBC News. Soren made an appearance in the 1987 Beastie Boys music video for "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party)" as a 19-year-old NYU student. She was the spokesperson for MTV's Choose or Lost campaign, which aimed to get young individuals to vote when she was 23. She spoke with Yasser Arafat, Anita Hill, and Hillary Clinton. She appeared in the 1998 movie American History X and appeared as herself in the film The Cable Guy. The 2003 documentary Tupac: Resurrection used snippets of her conversations with Tupac Shakur. After working in television news, Soren spent a year studying art and photography at Stanford. Her works have appeared in several publications over the past ten years, including The New York Times Magazine, Canteen, Vanity Fair, McSweeney's, Sports Illustrated, and New York. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Oakland Museum of Art, the New Orleans Museum of Art, Pier 24 Photography, Transformer Station in Ohio, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in Louisiana are just a few examples of public collections. In addition, she presented Running at the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art in 2012. Jogging was a three-year project filmed in 15 states, including Mexico and Canada, and it showed solitary, vividly lighted people running in everyday environments. Fantasy Life by Soren had its debut in 2015 at the Kopeikin Gallery in Los Angeles, California, before touring the Bay Area. Pictures of 21 baseball players from the Oakland A's 2002 draught class, who Soren tracked for 13 years until they retired from the sport, were featured in the display. Soren published Panic Beach, a photography collection of rough, forceful waves throughout coasts worldwide, later in 2015. The struggle to adjust to technological dominance is the subject of her television series Surface Tension. The pictures were captured on film using an 8" × 10" view camera.
