In Washington, D.C., he serves as Vice Chairman of the National Public Radio Foundation. He serves as vice chairman of the San Francisco-based Stuart Foundation. He is on the investment committees of both foundations investment committees, where he manages investments totaling around $700 million that he sits on the committees He participates in both the Development Committee and the Board of the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. He formerly held positions on the Auxiliary Board of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Board of Visitors of the Rockefeller Center at Dartmouth College. Stuart Lucas is a fourth-generation heir to the Carnation Company, which is best known for producing all-American foods like Carnation evaporated milk and Friskies cat food. E.A. Stuart founded the company. The Stuart family gave Carnation to Nestlé in 1985. Stuart Lucas is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a 1981 alumnus of Dartmouth College with High Honors. He also earned his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1989. He is married and has three kids.
