Scott Stowell Biography

Owner Scott Stowell runs Open, an independent design firm in New York City that creates rewarding experiences for people who can read and think. Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Yale University Art Museum, Patagonia, the Stanford University d.school, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, New York Public Radio, the New York Times, and Patagonia are among the organizations in the city. Before starting Open, Scott worked as a senior originator at M&Co. New York and the craftsmanship overseer of Colors magazine in Rome. Previously, he graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BA in visual computerization (RISD). Scott received his education at Yale University, SUNY Purchase, and the RISD School of Visual Arts. The National Design Prize for Communication Design was given to Scott in 2008. 2016 saw the release of his debut book, Design for Humans, by Metropolis Books.
