Tim Tharp was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma, a little community in the state's eastern region. At the age of seven, his father relocated to Midwest Metropolitan, an Oklahoma City suburb, after accepting a position as assistant editor of a major city newspaper.
He developed the comic strips Bush Miller, which chronicles the continued adventures of a foolish bush-league baseball player, and Monster Mag while still in elementary school. He developed a passion for fiction writing in fifth grade and pledged to one day become a writer in addition to being the best professional football player in history.
