He has held several senior positions throughout that time, such as Senior Advisor to the Director of the Program Office for National Strategies for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace at NIST and Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives to the CIO at the National Institutes of Health. Additionally, he has served as the Chair of the U.S. Federal PKI Policy Authority and Assistant CIO for e-Authentication at the National Institutes of Health.
