Mira Murati is an engineer and tech executive known for her role as Chief Technology Officer of OpenAI. Born in Albania, she was educated in the U.S. and Canada, earning a B.A. from Colby College and a bachelor of engineering from Dartmouth’s Thayer School of Engineering. 

Her career has spanned time at Goldman Sachs, Zodiac Aerospace, Tesla, and Leap Motion. Her time at Tesla sparked an interest in AI, as she was the product manager for the Model X's early autopilot software. She joined OpenAI as Vice President of Applied AI and Partnerships, leading the development of major AI projects like ChatGPT and DALL-E.

She left OpenAI in the fall of 2024 to pursue personal projects like her AI startup, Thinking Machines Lab. Murati was named Time’s 100 Most Influential People in AI the same year.
