Maurice Termite Watkins was a sucker for a good brawl. He knew what he wanted when he was eleven years old and weighed just 65 pounds: he wanted to be a champion. He achieved his goals despite having little natural athletic skill, via pure dedication and tenacity.
Termite became the nation's youngest national Golden Gloves winner at the age of sixteen. With 128 victories and only ten defeats, he was a great amateur. In his final year of high school, Termite turned pro and set his eyes on a world title. He won 58 fights in his professional career, including 48 knockouts.
