Mary Giliberti served as a section chief in the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to that she was the director of public policy and advocacy for federal and state issues at NAMI. During her 20+ years in the mental health field Ms. Giliberti also served as a disability counsel for the Senate Committee on Health Education Labor and Pensions and as a senior attorney at the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law. She is a native of North Bellmore N.Y. NAMI the National Alliance on Mental Illness is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has blossomed into the nation's leading voice on mental health.
