Errol Barnett is a CNN International anchor and journalist. He has been the host of the award-winning Inside Africa since January 2012. With Barnett at the helm, the program now goes to every corner of the continent to face local obstacles, meet remarkable people, and learn about what makes each location distinctive. Barnett also contributes to CNN's developing markets show Global Exchange, African Voices, and CNN Marketplace Africa as a general assignment reporter located in Johannesburg, South Africa. Barnett solo-anchored CNN International's Middle East-based news show, Prism from CNN Abu Dhabi, before and throughout the Arab Spring. Before the Tunisian revolution and subsequent upheavals in Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, and Syria, this was the first CNN broadcast to cover the turmoil in Tunisia. Barnett also covered significant breaking news stories such as the aftermath of Japan's terrible earthquake and tsunami, the rescue of Chilean miners, and the global reaction to Osama Bin Laden's death. During his five years at Channel One, Barnett covered a variety of topics around the country, including the 2004 Democratic National Convention, the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Hurricanes Ivan and Lily, President Bush's second inauguration, and California wildfires. Other significant subjects covered include a multi-part investigation of teen heroin usage in the New England suburbs, teen credit card debt, and school violence. Barnett has also served as a journalist and host for ReelzChannel. Barnett, who is based in Los Angeles, has interviewed and covered film festivals and premieres for a number of American superstars, including Forest Whitaker, Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, and Christian Bale. Barnett is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and was born in Milton Keynes, England. In 2008, he graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a bachelor's degree in political science with a concentration in international relations.
