Daniel Lamarre Biography

Daniel Lamarre is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Cirque du Soleil, where he is in charge of both commercial growth and operational initiatives. He is also responsible for the organization's financial stability as well as the continuity of its culture and values. He spent nearly four years as president and CEO of TVA Group, Quebec's largest private television broadcaster, before joining Guy Lalibert's team in January 2001. He was in charge of strategic planning and company growth in addition to his day-to-day managerial responsibilities. He also served on the boards of McDonald's Restaurants of Canada and the Canadian Association of Broadcasters, as well as helped to run the Montreal Heart Institute Research Fund, while on the TVA Group board of directors. Daniel Lamarre worked with National Public Relations from 1984 until 1997, first as executive vice president and senior partner, and then as president beginning in 1995. In 1981, he became president and CEO of Burson-Marsteller, the world's biggest public relations firm, and founded the firm's first Montreal location. In 1977, he worked as the public relations director for Cogeco, a cable company. He was previously the head of communications at the Fdration des Caisses Populaires du Centre du Qubec. He worked as a journalist for almost ten years before taking on his managerial responsibilities in the communications industry. He began his career at the daily Le Nouvelliste in Trois-Rivieres, then moved on to Radio-Canada in Ottawa. He graduated from the University of Ottawa with a bachelor's degree in communications.
